Methodology, Data and Privacy
Crossix built its independent data network specifically with HIPAA and consumer marketing challenges in mind, going right to the sources of transactional data in order to lose none of the granularity and usefulness of the fully robust data. The unbiased nature of Crossix Rx data and unique means of matching client or publisher data, provides more accurate results, more quickly, on an ongoing basis, cost effectively.
The data network allows Crossix to effectively measure the impact of marketing programs using a representative sample of U.S. pharmaceutical transactions. Crossix Rx data represents the entire U.S. geography, varied pharmacy types including retail (chain and independents), Pharmacy Benefit Providers, Insurance Plans and Switch companies and all payment types (including government, cash, mail order and specialty).
Crossix utilizes a patented proprietary technology and methodology, reporting aggregated metrics on large groups of individuals, to specifically comply with privacy laws and regulations, including HIPAA, and stringently protect information from Crossix clients. The methodology relies on access to Rx transactional data behind the firewalls at various Crossix data supplier entities, including pharmacy chains, PBMs and other “covered entities” under HIPAA. Crossix utilizes a fully automated process such that no one at Crossix ever accesses any protected health information (“PHI”) under HIPAA. Only de-identified results leave the data suppliers and arrive at Crossix. Similarly, Crossix Analysts only use encrypted files from Crossix clients, without a need at any time to view any personally identifiable data. Crossix then aggregates results for the included groups or segments, across the data network, into actionable reports for clients.
Crossix patented distributed data mining
Crossix provides reports to leading pharmaceutical companies, and has seen increasing traction with utilization on a cross-brand basis at leading companies. In addition, the Crossix method relies on installation of Crossix SafeMine™ servers behind the firewalls at leading healthcare organizations. Crossix privacy and security must meet the demands of its clients and those of the HIPAA covered entities that provide the access to Rx data.
Crossix does not store any mission-critical client data required by the client for its business operations – all data housed at Crossix also resides elsewhere. Crossix does not communicate with any of the individuals, instead reporting in aggregate on Rx profiles and Rx behaviors of groups of individuals.
Crossix seeks to strategically add additional data suppliers, looking to build on its already strong network for patient and consumer Rx matchback. If you are interested in more information or becoming a Data Partner, contact us.
